Andy spent the early part of his professional career as a marketeer, then launched his own copywriting agency. He wrote his first novel, Trigger Point, in 2015, self-publishing it and a further twenty-eight titles to date.
He signed with Thomas & Mercer in 2019 for the three-book Inspector Ford series set in his hometown, Salisbury. T&M went on to commission Andy to create a new series featuring a female lead character, Detective Sergeant Kat Ballantyne. They have renewed his contract twice at time of writing, taking the series to eleven titles. The series is open-ended, with further books planned past the current deal. Andy speaks to schools and leads a creative writing class at a local secondary school in one of the poorest areas of Salisbury.
