Gillian Mawson is an author and social historian whose research focuses on the Second World War Home Front and evacuation. She has interviewed wartime evacuees from across Britain, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar.
Her books include Guernsey Evacuees, Evacuees: Children’s Lives on the WWII Home Front and Britain’s Wartime Evacuees. She has worked with documentary makers and organised evacuee reunions and community projects.
She holds a Master’s degree in Social History from the University of Manchester and received Guernsey’s Ambassador of the Year Award in 2011 for sharing the experiences of wartime evacuees.
