Wendy completed the MA in crime writing at City University (now City St Georges), gaining a distinction. Her novel written for the MA, Close to the Bone, was listed in the top 30 for the CWA’s emerging author award in 2025, and highly commended in the I Am Writing Crime/thriller competition. Her novel Hard Rain was longlisted in the Watson Little Indie Novella competition in the Climate Change category.
For most of her working life Wendy was involved in social housing, which meant close working with the police on issues relating to homelessness, drug use and housing those leaving prison. Particular ‘low lights’ for her career were finding a dead body and being threatened with an axe, but there were many highlights too! Her more recent work as a consultant and business coach had the advantage of taking her to interesting locations, some of which she has drawn on for the novels.
