ABOUT GILLIAN

Gillian Mawson is an author and social historian whose research focuses on the Second World War Home Front and evacuation. She has interviewed wartime evacuees from across Britain, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar.
Her books include Guernsey Evacuees, Evacuees: Childrenâs Lives on the WWII Home Front and Britainâs Wartime Evacuees. She has worked with documentary makers and organised evacuee reunions and community projects.
She holds a Masterâs degree in Social History from the University of Manchester and received Guernseyâs Ambassador of the Year Award in 2011 for sharing the experiences of wartime evacuees.
